Organizations to Connect With

Brooker Creek Preserve

Brooker Creek is a beautiful preserve that people can visit to experience Florida nature and wildlife at their fullest. It is the largest natural area in Pinellas County. There are beautiful nature hikes and tours, activities and an incredible information center. We are very grateful to Brooker Creek Preserve Education and Outreach Specialist, Victoria Escandell, for her support and guidance as we researched the endangered native Florida wildlife on this site.

City of Clearwater

The adopt a park, street or trail program is a beautiful program that the city organizes where you can clean an area at least twice a year. This helps protect the natural and native life. Organizations, families, groups and individuals can do it. Our troop and our sister troop and other volunteers have really enjoyed adopting Bayview Park in Clearwater.

Keep Pinellas Beautiful

This is a great organization that really makes it easier for the average person to make a big difference for the environment. They organize cleanings, special community projects and education. They helped our troop plant mangroves in our adopted park and provided education about how mangroves help the environment and native wildlife.

Silvi Earth

Silvi is a movement dedicated to reforestation around the world. Our troop was very lucky to collaborate with the founder, Djimo Serodio, on replanting 274 endangered longleaf pines at the beginning of the Silvi movement. The organization has expanded greatly and just last year, helped plant 70,000 trees across Kenya.

Silvi partners with people and organizations to reforest and register and track the growth of newly planted trees on its Silvi App.

UF|IFAS University of Florida

Through a grant provided to the University of Florida, you can learn about and get involved in reducing microplastics in our environment.

The Florida Microplastic Awareness Project provides educational resources and outreach materials. As a volunteer, you can help collect coastal water samples, filtering them and looking for microplastics. The information collected is put into a Google Maps database.
